５． 誰是Mr. DOB？
Who is Mr. DOB?
When Mr. DOB is mentioned, a Mickey-mouse like character created by Takashi Murakami will pop up in our minds. So, who is Mr. DOB? He is actually the first cartoon character created by Murakami at the age of 19! With round and large ears covered by letters “D” and “B” respectively, as well as his round-shaped face symbolizing the letter “O”, Mr. DOB is created mainly based on the features of Doraemon and Sonic the Hedgehog (Mickey Mouse was not the reference for the prototype of Mr. DOB!). To Murakami, Mr. DOB is not only an imaginary character, but also an ambassador to bring Japanese culture to the world in different artistic forms. As a result, Mr. DOB begins his trip with Murakami to different parts of the world. Throughout his journey, Mr. DOB gradually transforms into a representation of the artist himself, expressing his characteristics and emotions. When you meet Mr. DOB next time, try to guess what Murakami was feeling at that moment!
